Did you know that Neil Mossop pioneered the kiwifruit pollination concept in 1972?
The natural foraging instincts of bees to collect pollen ensures that plants are fertilised. As beekeepers, we move thousands of hives into about 100 Kiwifruit orchards every year for the purpose of pollination, for bees are essential to producing quality Kiwifruit. Neil Mossop pioneered the concept in 1972 and Mossop’s pollination services are sought after by many local orchardists. In November and December each year, the bees are transported in at night while asleep and the next morning sees them up playing their part in another successful Kiwifruit season.
Other Pollination
We also place beehives into avocado orchards. Beehives are also needed to pollinate pears, apples, melons and other fruit crops, although we are not involved in the pollination of these types of orchards.
